Why we’re building Vloxyde

Most money apps make you choose. A budgeting app tracks your personal spending but has no idea that half of last night’s dinner is owed back to you. A bill-splitting app tracks who owes whom but never reconciles with your actual accounts. So you keep two sets of books that quietly disagree — and stop trusting both.

Vloxyde is the ledger that holds both without conflating them. Under the hood it’s built on balanced, double-entry postings: every balance is a projection you can rebuild from the entries beneath it, and every figure on your dashboard drills back to the events that produced it. Shared costs are first-class — your own share is separated from what others owe you, so your real personal spending stays honest.

We optimize for correctness and provenance over spreadsheet-style flexibility. That’s a deliberate stance: we’d rather show you a number you can trace to the cent than a convenient one you have to take on faith. It’s also why Vloxyde doesn’t plug into your bank — your history is something you own and can always export, not something we mirror from a third party.

Vloxyde is early. We’re building it in the open, one carefully verified capability at a time, and we’d rather ship a smaller product that’s correct than a broad one that isn’t.
